  • The Basics: Having adequate rest, nutrition, and hydration is vital to preventing injury during activity. If you have questions about these areas of your health, feel free to ask and we can provide best practice or refer you to a specialist as needed.

  • Always Warm Up: It is important to warm up prior to exercising or participating in sports and to cool down after a sporting events.

  • Stay Active: Cardiovascular/aerobic workouts, as well as strength and resistance training, and flexibility training will help keep your body healthy.

  • Good Mechanics: Having proper coaching on good sports specific mechanics is important to avoid repetitive strain injuries. When athletes compete without proper coaching, we commonly see athletic injuries such as Little League elbow, Eggers Elbow, Tennis, Elbow, Golfers elbow and Stress Fractures of the joints/spine.

  • Get Help: If an injury does occur, it is important to be checked by Board certified sports medicine physician who has the highest level of training in sports injuries. The right sports medicine doctor will be able to help you with therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation, orthopedic expertise and definitive treatment options.
